Sanaa Gateja, a renowned artist, is having his first solo exhibition in New York at Karma Art Gallery. The exhibition titled 'Rolled Secrets' showcases two series, Rolled Secrets (2023) and Paths: The African Journey (2020), featuring figurative works with intricate depictions of forest settings, social gatherings, and beaded fringes. In Paths: The African Journey, Gateja explores the history of Africa, emphasizing abstraction to connect people and their environment, reflecting on colonization, enslavement, and the resilience of the continent's population and diaspora. The exhibition runs from June 27 to August 18, 2023.
