Ardmore Ceramics

Ardmore Ceramic Art (South Africa): Ceramic artists studio Ardmore Ceramic Art was founded by Fée Halsted and the artist Bonnie Ntshalintshali in Natal, South Africa, in 1985.

Fée and Bonnie developed a specific way of working, taking inspiration from the Dutch ceramic tradition which they twisted with inventions of their own, liberating themselves from the past constraints of ceramic making with the free use of glue and of precise and expressive hand-painting.

Since then, the Ardmore Studio family has been growing steadily, nurturing talented artists, some of them involved both in the ceramic making and the hand painting, others specializing in one or the other area, and collaborating with each other, creating a layer of complexity and diversity in the style of each piece made at the Studio. All pieces made in the Studio are unique.

Works by Ardmore artists have recently attracted the attention of leading Museums around the world, including the Museum of Art and Design in New York, recognising the unique expression in ceramic making that the Studio has brought in the field.
